f34b205f6c diff: do not quit early on stat-dirty files
When QUICK is set (i.e. with --quiet) we try to do as little work as
possible, stopping after seeing the first change. stat-dirty is
considered a "change" but it may turn out not, if no actual content is
changed. The actual content test is performed too late in the process
and the shortcut may be taken prematurely, leading to incorrect return
code.

Assume we do "git diff --quiet". If we have a stat-dirty file "a" and
a really dirty file "b". We break the loop in run_diff_files() and
stop after "a" because we have got a "change". Later in
diffcore_skip_stat_unmatch() we find out "a" is actually not
changed. But there's nothing else in the diff queue, we incorrectly
declare "no change", ignoring the fact that "b" is changed.

This also happens to "git diff --quiet HEAD" when it hits
diff_can_quit_early() in oneway_diff().

This patch does the content test earlier in order to keep going if "a"
is unchanged. The test result is cached so that when
diffcore_skip_stat_unmatch() is done in the end, we spend no cycles on
re-testing "a".

304970dd5d diff-no-index: exit(1) if 'diff --quiet <repo file> <external file>' finds changes
When running 'git diff --quiet <file1> <file2>', if file1 or file2
is outside the repository, it will exit(0) even if the files differ.
It should exit(1) when they differ.

This happens because 'diff_no_index' looks at the 'found_changes'
member from 'diff_options' to determine if changes were made. This
is the wrong thing to do, since it is only set if xdiff is actually
run and it finds a change (the diff machinery will optimize out the
xdiff call when it is not necessary) and in that case HAS_CHANGED
flag needs to be taken into account.

Use diff_result_code() that knows all these details for the correct
exit value instead.

3fb0459bc8 tests: modernise style: more uses of test_line_count
Prefer:

  test_line_count <OP> COUNT FILE

over:

  test $(wc -l <FILE) <OP> COUNT

(or similar usages) in several tests.

7f733de04e test-suite: Make test script numbers unique
In order to selectively skip tests, the environment variable GIT_SKIP_TESTS
can be set like this:

  $ GIT_SKIP_TESTS='t1301 t4150.18' make test

That is, its value can contain only the test script numbers, but not the
full script name. Therefore, it is important that the test scripts are
uniquely numbered. This makes it so.
