This allows us to use common test infrastructure and parallelize
the tests. For now, GIT_SVN_TEST_HTTPD=true needs to be set to
enable the SVN HTTP tests because we reuse the same test cases
for both file:// and http:// SVN repositories. SVN_HTTPD_PORT
is no longer honored.
Tested under Apache 2.2 and 2.4 on Debian 7.x (wheezy) and
8.x (jessie), respectively.

Test scripts have been updated to remove assumptions that are not
portable between Git for POSIX and Git for Windows, or to skip ones
with expectations that are not satisfiable on Git for Windows.
* js/mingw-tests: (21 commits)
gitignore: ignore generated test-fake-ssh executable
mingw: do not bother to test funny file names
mingw: skip a test in t9130 that cannot pass on Windows
mingw: handle the missing POSIXPERM prereq in t9124
mingw: avoid illegal filename in t9118
mingw: mark t9100's test cases with appropriate prereqs
t0008: avoid absolute path
mingw: work around pwd issues in the tests
mingw: fix t9700's assumption about directory separators
mingw: skip test in t1508 that fails due to path conversion
tests: turn off git-daemon tests if FIFOs are not available
mingw: disable mkfifo-based tests
mingw: accomodate t0060-path-utils for MSYS2
mingw: fix t5601-clone.sh
mingw: let lstat() fail with errno == ENOTDIR when appropriate
mingw: try to delete target directory before renaming
mingw: prepare the TMPDIR environment variable for shell scripts
mingw: factor out Windows specific environment setup
Git.pm: stop assuming that absolute paths start with a slash
mingw: do not trust MSYS2's MinGW gettext.sh
...
On Windows' file systems, file names with trailing dots are forbidden.
The POSIX emulation layer used by Git for Windows' Subversion emulates
those file names, therefore the test adding the file would actually
succeed, but when we would ask git.exe (which does not leverage the
POSIX emulation layer) to check out the tree, it would fail.
Let's just guard the test using a filename that is illegal on Windows
by the MINGW prereq.
This lets t9118-git-svn-funky-branch-names.sh pass in Git for Windows'
SDK.

The Git CodingGuidelines prefer the $(...) construct for command
substitution instead of using the backquotes `...`.
The backquoted form is the traditional method for command
substitution, and is supported by POSIX. However, all but the
simplest uses become complicated quickly. In particular, embedded
command substitutions and/or the use of double quotes require
careful escaping with the backslash character.
The patch was generated by:
for _f in $(find . -name "*.sh")
do
perl -i -pe 'BEGIN{undef $/;} s/`(.+?)`/\$(\1)/smg' "${_f}"
done
and then carefully proof-read.

git-svn by default puts its Subversion-tracking refs directly in
refs/remotes/*. This runs counter to Git's convention of using
refs/remotes/$remote/* for storing remote-tracking branches.
Furthermore, combining git-svn with regular git remotes run the risk of
clobbering refs under refs/remotes (e.g. if you have a git remote
called "tags" with a "v1" branch, it will overlap with the git-svn's
tracking branch for the "v1" tag from Subversion.
Even though the git-svn refs stored in refs/remotes/* are not "proper"
remote-tracking branches (since they are not covered by a proper git
remote's refspec), they clearly represent a similar concept, and would
benefit from following the same convention.
For example, if git-svn tracks Subversion branch "foo" at
refs/remotes/foo, and you create a local branch refs/heads/foo to add
some commits to be pushed back to Subversion (using "git svn dcommit),
then it is clearly unhelpful of Git to throw
warning: refname 'foo' is ambiguous.
every time you checkout, rebase, or otherwise interact with the branch.
The existing workaround for this is to supply the --prefix=quux/ to
git svn init/clone, so that git-svn's tracking branches end up in
refs/remotes/quux/* instead of refs/remotes/*. However, encouraging
users to specify --prefix to work around a design flaw in git-svn is
suboptimal, and not a long term solution to the problem. Instead,
git-svn should default to use a non-empty prefix that saves
unsuspecting users from the inconveniences described above.
This patch will only affect newly created git-svn setups, as the
--prefix option only applies to git svn init (and git svn clone).
Existing git-svn setups will continue with their existing (lack of)
prefix. Also, if anyone somehow prefers git-svn's old layout, they
can recreate that by explicitly passing an empty prefix (--prefix "")
on the git svn init/clone command line.
The patch changes the default value for --prefix from "" to "origin/",
updates the git-svn manual page, and fixes the fallout in the git-svn
testcases.
(Note that this patch might be easier to review using the --word-diff
and --word-diff-regex=. diff options.)

This test script uses "svn cp" to create a branch with an @-sign in
its name:
svn cp "pr ject/trunk" "pr ject/branches/not-a@{0}reflog"
That sets up for later tests that fetch the branch and check that git
svn mangles the refname appropriately.
Unfortunately, modern svn versions interpret path arguments with an
@-sign as an example of path@revision syntax (which pegs a path to a
particular revision) and truncate the path or error out with message
"svn: E205000: Syntax error parsing peg revision '{0}reflog'".
When using subversion 1.6.x, escaping the @ sign as %40 avoids trouble
(see 08fd28bb, 2010-07-08). Newer versions are stricter:
$ svn cp "$repo/pr ject/trunk" "$repo/pr ject/branches/not-a%40{reflog}"
svn: E205000: Syntax error parsing peg revision '%7B0%7Dreflog'
The recommended method for escaping a literal @ sign in a path passed
to subversion is to add an empty peg revision at the end of the path
("branches/not-a@{0}reflog@"). Do that.
Pre-1.6.12 versions of Subversion probably treat the trailing @ as
another literal @-sign (svn issue 3651). Luckily ever since
v1.8.0-rc0~155^2~7 (t9118: workaround inconsistency between SVN
versions, 2012-07-28) the test can survive that.
Tested with Debian Subversion 1.6.12dfsg-6 and 1.7.5-1 and r1395837
of Subversion trunk (1.8.x).

SVN 1.7 will truncate "not-a%40{0}" to just "not-a".
Rather than guess what SVN is going to do for each version, make the test use
the branch name that was actually created.

When test #2 fails, the cwd is project/, causing all the
remaining tests in the same script to get confused and fail.
So in the spirit of v1.7.1.1~53^2~10 (t5550-http-fetch: Use subshell
for repository operations, 2010-04-17), use a subshell for svn
working copy operations. This way, the cwd will reliably return
to the top of the trash directory and later tests can still be run
when a command has failed.

@ is SVN's identifier for PEG revisions. But SVN's treatment of PEG
identifiers in copy target URLs changed in r954995/r952973, i.e. between
1.6.11 and 1.6.12. They get eaten now (which is considered the right
way).
Therefore, avoid the @ in the tests with funky branch names.

I have tweaked configuration in my ~/.subversion directory, namely I am
running auto-properties and automatically adding '$Id$' expansion to
every file. This choke the last test named 'proplist' from
t9101-git-svn-props.sh, because one more property, svn:keywords is
automatically added.
I had just wrapped svn invocation with the svn_cmd that specifies empty
directory via --config-dir argument. Since the latter is the global
option, it should be recognized by all svn subcommands, so no
regressions will be introduced.
Now svn_cmd is used everywhere, not just in the failed test module: this
should guard us from the future clashes with user-defined configuration
tweaks.

Apparently do_switch() tolerates the lack of escaping in less
funky branch names. For the really strange and scary ones, we
need to escape them properly. It strangely maintains compatible
with the existing handling of branch names with spaces and
exclamation marks.

This fixes the remainder of the issues where the test script itself is at
fault for failing when the git checkout path contains whitespace or other
shell metacharacters.
The majority of git svn tests used the idiom
test_expect_success "title" "test script using $svnrepo"
These were changed to have the test script in single-quotes:
test_expect_success "title" 'test script using "$svnrepo"'
which unfortunately makes the patch appear larger than it really is.
One consequence of this change is that in the verbose test output the
value of $svnrepo (and in some cases other variables, too) is no
longer expanded, i.e. previously we saw
* expecting success:
test script using /path/to/git/t/trash/svnrepo
but now it is:
* expecting success:
test script using "$svnrepo"

SVN requires that paths be URI-escaped for HTTP(S) repositories.
file:// and svn:// repositories do not need these rules.
Additionally, accessing individual paths inside repositories
(check_path() and get_log() do NOT require escapes to function
and in fact it breaks things).
